In a significant boost to Notre Dame’s 2025 recruiting class, Owen Strebig, a four-star offensive tackle from Waukesha, Wisconsin, has officially committed to the Fighting Irish. Strebig, standing at an imposing 6-foot-8 and weighing 295 pounds, chose Notre Dame over several powerhouse programs, including Florida State, where he had also made recruiting visits.
Strebig’s recruitment journey was nothing short of intense, marked by numerous visits and a keen interest from some of the top colleges in the country. Notre Dame had been a consistent favorite throughout his recruitment process, with Strebig visiting South Bend six times before deciding. His first unofficial visit occurred in April 2023, following an offer from Notre Dame offensive line coach Joe Rudolph, and from then on, each visit only solidified his connection with the program. “Notre Dame will be in it until the very end, no doubt,” Strebig expressed during one of his visits, showcasing his early lean towards the Irish.
Florida State entered the picture with an offer in April 2023, recognizing Strebig’s potential after his unofficial visit to their campus. Despite the Seminoles’ efforts, Notre Dame’s historic tradition, academic prestige, and the personal relationships Strebig built with the coaching staff, especially Rudolph and head coach Marcus Freeman, proved decisive. Strebig’s relationship with Freeman and Rudolph was described as “awesome,” and his family’s interaction with them was a significant factor in his choice. “It’s not just about football but about the whole package,” Strebig noted, emphasizing Notre Dame’s holistic approach.
On the field, Owen Strebig is considered one of the elite offensive linemen of his class, ranking as a consensus four-star prospect across major recruiting platforms. His physical attributes alone – height, reach, and agility – make him an immediate asset to any offensive line. Strebig’s blend of size, strength, and athleticism has been lauded by coaches. “Owen has the physical tools to be a dominant tackle at the next level,” said Joe Rudolph, highlighting Strebig’s potential. His length and ability to move well for his size are key traits that drew interest from colleges nationwide.
Strebig’s high school career at Catholic Memorial was marked by accolades, including a spot on the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association Large School All-State Team. Though still developing, his technique shows promise for significant improvement under college coaching, particularly with a coach like Rudolph, known for his ability to mold offensive linemen into NFL prospects.
As Notre Dame looks to bolster its offensive line for future seasons, securing a talent like Strebig strengthens their immediate roster and sets a high bar for developing their offensive strategy.
